Members

Philosophy

The Councils, Board and Staff jointly strive to provide health, fitness and social opportunities for all individuals and families in Thorsby and area. Together we will foster a strong sense of Community, encouraging residents to contribute and enjoy the benefits of recreation, culture and parks.

Meetings

The Recreation Board meets August - May on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the Recreation Complex. These meetings are open to the public.

Grants

Limited funds are available to assist local clubs with recreation related costs. Grant applications are due at the end of March every year for funding consideration. (Download: Grant Application (PDF 76 Kb)

Scholarship

Criteria

• The eligible student must be registered in a post secondary institute.

First choice will be given to a student:

• Registered in Recreation or Recreation related studies or Culture which includes Art, Drama and Music Studies.

Second Chioce will be given to a student:

• Registered in Arts or Education Studies AND have a strong volunteer involvement in school and/or Community Recreation Activities.

The amount of this scholarship is $500.00 and the Thorsby High School will choose the qualified recipient and inform the Thorsby & District Recreation & Parks Board.
